entertainment weekly confirms chris weitz

Entertainment Weekly have confirmed that The Golden Compass director, Chris Weitz, will be directing New Moon. We may also assume that because New Moon and Eclipse are being filmed back to back that he will be directing Eclipse as well.

Chris also directed American Pie with his brother and was nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for About a Boy, which he also directed with his brother. His experience with special effects on The Golden Compass should help him with his the effects for New Moon.

An announcement is expected from Summit Entertainment on Sunday, December 14th. Chris could be in Vancouver on Monday to begin pre-production for the film.
