I am not a titleist loyalist but the MB's are indeed amazing. I have bagged MP-53, Mizuno MX-200 Irons,
cheap ap2 712 irons, and now the 712 Titleist MB's. Once you find the sweet spot and slow down the swing a little you know what a accurate set of clubs. The Titleist MB 712 Irons are right made to achieve this. I was always told that Titleist has the best forging process, thus resulting in better irons.
I played the
Mizuno MX-200 Irons cheap protos for a season and now the 712 for a season. I've hit more quality shots with the 712s than with the protos. Granted the protos had project x 6.0 flighted and my 712 MBs have Project x 6.5 non-flighted. I got too much spin with the protos leading to decreased accuracy. My 712 have much more consistent yardages. The x protos are more forgiving, but if you're looking for forgiveness in a blade, you shouldn't play them.
Compared to the
best price mizuno mp 53 which are a tad bit softer, 712 MB's Titleist feel more solid. The feedback from each shot is definitely noticeable. We all know that blades are less forgiving but, slightly off center hits don't seem as bad as portrayed by typical blades. Unless you really hit it bad, ball speed variations from off center hits are minimal. I actually can hit these higher than my previous cavity backs with the exact same shafts.
Forged from 1025 carbon steel with modern satin chrome plating, MB irons feature constant blade length, minimal progressive offset and a thin topline. They have a narrower sole and more heel relief then previous models. This
