Today I am writing to review one of the Taylormade iconic irons, the
Tour Preferred CB Irons. It is said that the TP CB irons have appealed to different levels players, especially to the mid to high. Perhaps the most noticeable part of the TP CB irons is the forged face that are created by plasma-welding a 8620 carbon steel cast body and a slightly firmer, forged, carbon steel face. The
Tour Preferred CB Irons are in stock at
golf store uk.
In the new
Tour Preferred CB Irons, CB is short for Cavity Back, and the weighting of the club is very nice. Balanced and not too heavy or too light. Swings nicely with good feel for where the head and face is. On solid contact the forged face produces a nice soft feel through the ball accompanied by a nice "whack" sound. On mis-hits the feel is not the harsh "twang" you get with most player's irons. The
TP CB also produces the highest MOI values, which is expected, as it's the most forgiving of the three. A main contributor to the forgiving nature of the
TP CB is the incorporation of TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology (ICT)--the only one of the new Left handed TP irons that does so. If you're not familiar with ICT, quite simply it promotes faster ball speeds across an expanded area on the club face.
Furthermore, the
TP CB also features a precision-weighting port that guarantees consistent swingweight throughout the set while ensuring a lower centre of gravity to optimize ball flight on every iron. Additionally, the TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Iron features the advanced groove design to promote more spin and control from the rough. Besides, they have a thin topline, but the widest sole of the three new forged irons, as well as the most offset and slightly stronger lofts. Still, at their friendliest, the clubs would be classified as game-improvement irons.
